  4. Hey, thanks man! Yeah Kenji sent a link to that the other day... definitely awesome shit... I really dig on a lot of eastern european art, especially the childrens book/fairy tale/illustration-y stuff....

  5. this is awesome, love the style of your inking technique in combination with painting, if you don't mind me asking how you acheive this affect by painting on it without covering up the inking?
    Thanks!

  6. Tyler-

I don't mind at all. I take my pencil drawing into photoshop and enhance the lines until they are nice and dark, and I make them a separate layer and erase all of the white, so that I am left with a transparent layer with linework, underneath of which i establish my base colors and shadows. Once I am satisfied with that layer, I create a new layer that is ovetop of the drawing layer and paint in just my highlights and details. I call it my 3-layer painting method... though I often will have more than 3 layers, but the principle is still the same.

Plus, I am a drawer, and not a painter, so I let the drawing guide my paintings. I have to have a really strong drawing before I can paint anything, it's just the way i work.

Hope that helps! i am glad to answer any questions you have!

    Take care, nice blog BTW!
